Social Marketing & Public Education

This workgroup is FUN! If you want to help improve services for youth with Serious
Emotional Disturbances (SED) and want to help motivate others to join us as well, this workgroup is for you!

This workgroup’s focus is to educate the public and increase awareness of: services currently provided for
youth with SED, how we plan to improve those services, and the purpose and goals of the Kalamazoo Wraps
initiative to improve services within our system of care. Through Public Education, and increased awareness,
we also work to eliminate the stigma attached to seeking out and receiving mental health services.

A primary goal of the workgroup is to encourage community members, including families: parents, youth,
service providers, business owners, etc., to join in the Kalamazoo Wraps community initiative and to
“partner” with us.

Members of this workgroup plan, and participate in, community events and trainings, create marketing
materials like brochures and our newsletter, and positively represent the Kalamazoo Wraps initiative in a
variety of ways and settings.

Participation on this workgroup requires a desire to help improve the services provided within our system
of care, and a willingness to share your energy, ideas and creativity with the workgroup, to help accomplish
our goals.

The Social Marketing workgroup also works closely with the Training & Evidence Based workgroup, as well
as the Cultural & Linguistic Competence (CLC) workgroup, to ensure our we are setting a positive example
of CLC within the system of care. Join Us!
